Every venue is scored out of 100 from three weighted signals, heaviest first:
- Review velocity — how fast the venue has gained new Google reviews over the last 90 days, counting only substantive written reviews (over 50 characters). A venue with no written review in that window is not listed. This is the largest single component.
- Baseline rating — the venue’s Google star rating. 4.0 stars is the minimum to qualify at all.
- Profile completeness — whether the Google Business Profile carries a phone number, website, opening hours and a real description.

In Portugal and Spain, reviews written in the city’s own language are weighted more heavily. In the UK this has no effect, because the local language is English.
Only independent restaurants and bars qualify. No national chains, franchises, or food courts.
Rankings are recalculated monthly. Star-only and short junk reviews do NOT count — substantive text reviews drive the score.
