Petiscos done properly are harder to find in Ericeira than the tourist trail suggests, and Âncora is where locals go when they want the real thing. The owner runs the room personally, reading the table and steering the meal — hand the evening over and trust the choices. On the food side, the octopus is what people write home about most, followed closely by the scallops and the chocolate mousse; the rice pudding earns its own following too.
