We've never been here before, we thought we would try somewhere different. Absolutely devastated that it's only now we've been so adventurous to come in! The staff were so friendly and the food was delicious we had the Evening Grill starting with gorgeous melt in the mouth bread and beautifully tasting dips, then was a mix of delicious meats!Google review · M.S. · verbatim

Visiting Liverpool, United Kingdom? Bold Street — City centre strip, diverse cuisine — is the neighbourhood with 17 ranked independent restaurants and bars our review-velocity ranking is tracking right now. All trending hot this week. Rankings refreshed monthly from 26,489 live reviews — no national chains, no ads.

You can walk from one end of this corridor to the other in 12 minutes, but doing it on an empty stomach is how you end up in the wrong chair. Bold St is where Liverpool eats when it wants everything on one strip, running from morning filter roasts right through to midnight drinks. The smart plan is simple. Head to Maray on Bold St around 18:00 for small plates of roasted cauliflower with tahini and pomegranate for €14, then share 3 or 4 dishes before the room fills up. If you want beef instead, turn the corner onto Seel St where Cowshed serves flat irons and ribeyes starting around €18 with garlic greens and truffle potatoes. Further down on Bold St, Fat Hippo packs double patties and loaded fries for €16 when you just want a quick dinner without ceremony. Later on, walk down Berry St past the plain shopfronts until you find Berry and Rye for rye whiskey drinks at €12 in near darkness, or push through to Watkinson St where Manifest turns out seasonal European plates at €45 for dinner. It gets packed after 19:30 from Thursday to Sunday, so show up before the rush or prepare to stand on the pavement.

Smoke & Dough on Paradise St leads the rankings right now. Go for the barbecue trays and meats cooked over live coals, especially early in the evening before queues start forming outside.

Head to The Shipping Forecast on Slater St for craft pints, or slip into Berry and Rye on Berry St for late cocktails served behind an unmarked entrance.

You will find Middle Eastern sharing plates at Maray on Bold St, smoked barbecue at Red Dog Saloon, Turkish grilled steaks at ETCI MEHMET, and handmade pasta at Buyers Club on Hardman St.

Maray on Bold St works well with sharing plates and low lighting, while Cowshed on Seel St delivers reliable steak and wine in a stripped-back setting.

Fat Hippo on Bold St covers you with substantial burgers and fries around €16, while small sharing plates at Maray let you eat well from €25 per person.

Red Dog Saloon climbed up to #3, Smoke & Dough claimed the #1 position, and Buyers Club made a new entry at #12 on Hardman St.

Ask DOW on ChatGPT

DOW ranks venues with a 100-point Hot Score, recalculated monthly from live Google data. Three signals, in this order: written review activity — text reviews over 50 characters in the last 90 days, the heaviest by some distance; the standing Google rating from 4.0 up; and Google Business Profile completeness — phone, website, opening hours, description, photos and categories. In Portugal and Spain, reviews written in the city's own language carry more weight than English ones. We don't publish the exact weightings: a formula you can compute backwards is one you can farm. No editorial picks, no paid placements, no national chains.
