About Chiado
Chiado is the most composed of the three — Lisbon's old literary and shopping quarter, where Pessoa still sits in bronze outside A Brasileira and a 1988 fire took out a swathe of the district before Álvaro Siza rebuilt it. We came for the same reason as the rest of Lisbon: the pace of it. Few places in Iberia are opening and filling rooms this fast.
It's the broadest list of the three. Marisqueiras work the seafood end — picking from the display, paying by weight — while wine bars and a serious fine-dining tier sit a street away; José Avillez's Belcanto holds two Michelin stars within the same few blocks. It's the zone where you can eat €15 standing and €150 sitting on the same night.
And it's tourist-heavy, plainly: among the lowest Portuguese-language review shares we measure anywhere, a tier with Porto's Ribeira and the Algarve, and several times lower than our Spanish cities. We lift Portuguese reviews 1.5× so locals aren't drowned out by the visitor volume. Month one means no movers yet — this is where Chiado's hot list starts, and we'll see what holds.

Ask DOW on ChatGPTDOW ranks venues with a transparent 100-point Hot Score, recalculated monthly from live Google data. Four signals: Velocity (30 pts) — text reviews over 50 characters in the last 90 days; Baseline (25 pts) — current Google rating relative to 4.0; Recency (25 pts) — 30-day weighted decay on recent reviews; Profile (20 pts) — phone, website, opening hours, description, photos, and category completeness on the Google Business Profile.
